About
Welcome to the Independent Workers Union, a vibrant community established during the pandemic in 2020. What began as an informal group on Facebook has transformed in 2024 into a formal non-profit organization dedicated to championing the rights and interests of independent workers across Luxembourg.

In January 2021, our journey gained momentum with the launch of the Petition "Social Justice for Independent Workers" by our founder, Daniela Clara Moraru. This pivotal moment sparked a movement that emphasizes the need for enhanced protections and advocacy for independent workers in our country.

Today, we proudly represent over 1,700 members engaged in diverse fields, including training, consulting, IT, health and wellness, marketing, design, translation, arts, and many more. Success breeds success, and as president of the Independent Workers Union, I aspire for all our members to thrive. The strength of our Union is inherently linked to the achievements of our members; when you succeed, we all succeed.

Our mission is clear: to safeguard and uphold the rights of our members while providing a unified voice in advocating for meaningful reforms to the independent worker status in Luxembourg. Our vision aligns with similar organizations worldwide, recognizing the importance of collective action and support.

Through the Union des Indépendants, we strive to:
-
Build a Support Network: Offer independent workers access to resources and a community for professional development.
-
Navigate Legal and Financial Complexities: Assist members in understanding and addressing the intricacies of their work and income.
-
Facilitate Debt Recovery: Provide guidance in recovering unpaid dues and negotiating with clients.
-
Advocate for Workers' Rights: Represent independent workers’ interests in political discussions and policy-making.
-
Voices Together: Create a platform for members to collectively express their concerns and seek solutions.
-
Promote Fair Labor Practices: Stand up for equitable labor standards and advocate for a just social system and fiscal policy.
-
Group Benefits: Negotiate group discounts on essential services and supplies, ensuring our members receive fair rates on insurance and financial products.
-
Stay Informed: Keep our community updated on industry trends and emerging opportunities.

As we continue to grow, my focus remains on ensuring the sustainability of our Union. This involves securing the necessary financial and human resources to deliver top-notch services from the best experts available. To do this, we welcome and encourage new members to join us. The more we grow, the stronger we become, and I urge you to become a member before you need our assistance.

In my role as President and interim CEO, I am committed to managing our internal services, enhancing communication with our members, and elevating the Union's public profile through networking, marketing, and social media outreach—all on a voluntary basis.

I invite you to join us in our mission. Together, we can drive positive change and advocate for a more just and equitable society for all independent workers in Luxembourg. Join the Independent Workers Union today and be part of a powerful collective voice for your rights and future!
In solidarity,
Daniela Clara Moraru, President
Representing Luxembourg's independent workers, protecting & defending their rights, advocating for a better social protection.
Our Mission
Protecting and defending the rights of independent workers from Luxembourg.
Our Vision
Many individuals fail to grasp the true essence of being an independent worker. This is precisely why the Union is stepping up to advocate for the self-employed and freelancers, amplifying their voices to demand improved assistance and safeguards.
We are fighting for essential benefits like unemployment coverage and emergency replacement salary support during crises like a worldwide pandemic.
Additionally, we are pushing for better protections against late payments, enhanced health and safety rights, and countless other vital provisions.
