Defending the rights of
Luxembourg's Independent Workers
Success breeds success and as the president of the Independent Workers Union, my sincere hope is for all our members to achieve success. I firmly believe that the strength of our Union is directly tied to the success of our members.
I established the Independent Workers Union with the goal of safeguarding and upholding the rights of our members, as well as providing them with a unified voice to advocate for reforms to the independent worker status in Luxembourg. While the idea is not entirely unique, similar unions exist abroad for similar reasons:
-
To provide independent workers with a support network and resources for professional development.
-
To help independent workers navigate complex legal and financial issues.
-
To offer help for recovering the money independent workers are owed, as well as help with debt recovery claims, and support contacting clients who owe them money.
-
To advocate for independent workers' interests and rights in the political arena.
-
To provide independent workers with a platform to voice their concerns and have them addressed collectively.
-
To give independent workers a stronger voice in advocating for fair labor practices and policies, as well as for a more just social system & fiscality.
-
To offer independent workers group discounts on essential services and supplies, e.g. negotiate deals on insurance and other financial products.
-
To help independent workers stay informed about industry trends and opportunities.
Six months into the creation of the union, my primary focus is on strengthening its capacity to ensure sustainability both now and in the future. This involves securing the necessary financial and human resources to provide all of the services offered by the best experts in the country. To achieve this, it is vital for us to increase our membership numbers and encourage members to pay their dues. I urge you to become a member before you require our assistance.
Furthermore, my role within the Union extends beyond strategic planning as I am currently serving as interim CEO without any compensation. This role includes managing internal services for members, internal communication, as well as building the organization's public reputation through external activities such as networking, marketing, and social media management.
I invite you to join us in our mission to bring about positive change and advocate for a more just and equitable society for all.
